On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs outlasted the Los Angeles Chargers in a thrilling 10-17 win, improving to 4-0 on the season. Here are three key takeaways from the game:

Takeaway One: Xavier Worthy Delivers a Game-Changing Touchdown

Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs’ rookie speedster, made his presence felt in a big way with a 54-yard touchdown grab from Patrick Mahomes. Worthy’s elite speed and ability to stretch the field provided the spark Kansas City needed on offense. His ability to create separation downfield is something the Chiefs have been missing, and his 54-yard TD showcased how dangerous he can be in this offense. With Worthy continuing to develop chemistry with Mahomes, his deep threat potential gives Kansas City another dimension, and Sunday was just a glimpse of what’s to come.

Takeaway Two: Skyy Moore's Struggles Continue

Skyy Moore, who the Chiefs hoped would take a step forward this season, had another tough outing, highlighted by a crucial drop on third down. In a game where the offense struggled to move the chains, Moore’s drop in the second half ended a promising drive and forced Kansas City to punt. Consistency remains an issue for the young receiver, and with other pass-catchers stepping up, Moore will need to find his rhythm soon or risk losing snaps. The Chiefs need more reliability from their receiving corps, and Moore’s ongoing struggles are becoming a concerning trend.

Takeaway Three: Chiefs' Defense Continues to Dominate, Led by Chris Jones

Kansas City’s defense, once again, proved they belong among the NFL’s elite. Led by Defensive Player of the Year candidate Chris Jones, the Chiefs’ front seven dominated the Chargers' depleted offensive line, constantly pressuring a hobbled Justin Herbert. Jones, who finished with two sacks and multiple pressures, was relentless, disrupting Herbert’s rhythm and forcing quick throws. Trent McDuffie helped clamp down on the Chargers' receiving corps, ensuring Kansas City’s defense carried the team to victory when the offense struggled to find its groove. This defense is quickly becoming the backbone of the Chiefs’ success.
