With Wild Card Weekend in the books, the Kansas City Chiefs can officially put their bye week behind them and start preparing for playoff football. Up next for the Chiefs in their quest for a seventh straight AFC title game appearance? The Houston Texans—who just so happen to be the team they beat fairly handily in Week 16 by a comfortable eight-point margin.
Now, the Texans may have waltzed into the postseason by claiming the AFC South (in what can only be described as a somewhat competitive race), but their playoff prospects didn’t exactly have anyone shaking in their boots. So, when the red-hot Los Angeles Chargers rolled into Houston for the Wild Card round, many folks assumed the Texans would be outclassed and outgunned. But, in classic underdog fashion, Houston heard the doubters, ignored the script, and proceeded to knock the Chargers off by a cool 20-point margin. Took them a little while to warm up, but once they did, it was all over but the crying.
Now, the Chiefs will have to face a team that has proven it can punch above its weight when it matters. The question is: can the Texans keep that Wild Card magic alive? Or will the Chiefs remind them why they’re the defending champs? Either way, it’s playoff time, and nothing’s a given—except, maybe, that Arrowhead will be rocking.
